Small Town Thorsby

Another week…another road trip!

This time we decided on the random direction of heading South West which led us to the tiny town of Thorsby.

It’s hard to believe how some of these small towns survived and indeed some of them are very much in a bad way especially now with the pandemic.

Most of them have such character and this one was no exception.

Thorsby has just over a thousand people but yet we noticed it had five churches! Terry joked,’Can’t they get their acts together here?” ha ha.

The residential streets were actually gravel and there was just one, short main street but that said there seemed to be a lot of traffic and they even had a hot dog stand set up for the day.

We noticed a crazy sculpture in front of one of the homes in town. It seemed to be made out of a real, stripped tree and turned into a nest for a pterodactyl sculpture. It was HUGE.

It was also neat to see buffalo roaming the fields just outside of town.

I love exploring our province and even our own city with Terry. We might not be able to fly anywhere but we can have lots of fun checking out places close to home.

Try it!
