Saying Good-bye To Bob

Terry and I had the bittersweet honour of being asked to sing at our dear friend, Bob Willis’s “Celebration of Life”.

The event took place at the Connelly-McKinley funeral home in St. Albert this past Saturday.

We arrived an hour early and brought ALL of our sound equipment just in case ( we were told they had everything there for us) and within seconds Terry realised we needed all of the musical set up that we brought. ….thank-you, Bob!)

Yes, I felt Bob’s presence there that day. I was so worried that I would be too emotional to sing so I asked Bob to get me through …and he did!

There was a little table at the back of the chapel that held family memories that were very touching.

Sound check went very well and before we knew it the guests were arriving in their black (covid) masks and their hearts heavy. We ALL loved Bob so much. The Connolly-McKinley host, Connie, spoke to us about how the service would unfold and she was very professional and an excellent speaker. (My friend, Rosemary, would have loved her!)

Our opening song choice was “Give Me Jesus” and I was so pleased with how well it went. Our sound was not too loud but yet, crystal clear. I noticed people tearing up but I couldn’t look at them because I knew it would set me off.
