Let The Dream Begin

Louis B. Hobson wrote the wonderful story about Terry’s play, “Dream”, for the Calgary Herald to start off our exciting week of shows.

As we were driving down I was filled with a nervous yet excited anxiety. Would people come? Would the direction be to our liking? Could the actors act? Could the singers sing well? Etc. , Etc…..

The answers to all of these things was a resounding ….YES!!!!!

Although we had workshopped the show with different actors for 4 years we had never actually seen the show performed before…only read.

We also only knew some of the actors from our 4 previous week long rehearsals so I was very curious to see the final casting.

Here are some photos that were taken by Rosebud Theatre of the ONE week rehearsal (That’s all they had!!!) before we arrived….

We had a lovely drive down to Rosebud in time for the Wednesday evening show. Great to see our friend B.J. at the Country Inn again too.

Soon it was ‘go’ time.

It was very difficult for both Terry and I to keep our emotions in check for that first show. But we soon discovered that the entire audience felt the same way.

We were stunned when the show finished and the entire audience jumped up and gave the cast a standing ovation. And what was even cooler was that we only knew about 2 people in that audience so it was a true response.

It was a surprise for us to find out that there was a lovely reception waiting for us after the show.

I think Terry was extremely touched and humbled by the overwhelmingly positive responses.

We are SO thankful….

To be continued….

What a great birthday gift for me as well to be able to write this today….
