Scandinave

Terry and I “protected” a day for ourselves amidst all the visiting and babysitting during this Vancouver trip and used it to head over to Whistler for a traditional Scandinavian Spa experience. Scandinave is a nature-focused health spa with hot & cold baths surrounded by woodland, plus massages & a cafe.

We booked relaxation massages for both of us and then enjoyed the gorgeous drive out which takes about 2 hours from Vancouver.

When we arrived I was surprised that there were no designated handicapped spots so the afternoon started with a wee climb up the hill to the spa building. It was also starting to snow which made it pretty but also….pretty cold!

We ordered an overpriced sandwich at the café and then it was time for our treatments. I was again surprised to find that there was no elevator up to our THIRD FLOOR massage room but luckily one of the therapists switched so I could have mine on the ground floor. Phew! It was a lovely massage and then it was time to shower off the oils and to head down to the pools.

The large hot pool felt great and then the idea is that you dunk into the cold pool for a few seconds. Yowza! It did feel rejuvenating though, that’s for sure.

We did this a couple of times ( no phones and only very quiet talking allowed) so only a couple of long distance photos for you of the pools….

We had a chance to read our books while we were wearing the cozy, white hooded robes, they gave us but once it started snowing on me I felt it was time to go! Still enjoyed our audiobook, “Dear Edward” on the way home.

It didn’t take us long to get out from under the snow clouds on the way back and before you knew it, it was just the most gorgeous drive back. We stopped at Earl’s for dinner and felt very relaxed that night.
