Morning Light

Oh morning light you touch upon each branch with a painter’s skill.

Slowly. Slowly you brush away the black of night and bring forth the colour of each dappled leaf. Each unfurling flower.

The dew shys away at the warmth you bring and the chicadies chirp. Robins sing.

Ribbons of many hues band together like a rich tapestry in the sky.

Gold weaves through this holy loom.

Oh morning light you beckon me forth to start the day.

You alight upon the rooftops and and you dance upon the water. City buildings mirror your splendor and 10,000 coffee makers send out tantalizing aromas to compliment your work.

You chase away the moon so he can have a much needed rest.

Dreams become less clear as they slowly disappear.

You sneak through our blinds and you tickle our eyelashes. You play with the shadows and the dust motes float and delight in your rays.

Oh morning light you remind us that each day is a gift.

The farmer makes his way to the milking and the rooster greets the day with a joyous crow.

The baker digs her hand deep inside the dough while the trucker prepares for a long day on the road.

The nurse maneuvers the halls to his next patient . The construction worker lifts her steel toed boots onto the platform of her backhoe.

You nudge away the shadows and they bow to your request.

WIth your encouragement the day has begun.

Oh morning light you guide us, you give us another day to renew.

You awaken the world and you tint the sky blue.

You help us remember the glory of God.

A little ‘postscript’ ….. my photo (below) got chosen for the cover photo for the Facebook group called “Alberta Landscapes”. Woohoo!
