Metchosin

After eating a pretty simple breakfast of mandarin oranges and english muffins with cream cheese at our Air B & B we packed up some of our gear and headed out for the day to explore outer Victoria.

We found “Witty Lagoon” and went for a small hike to find the falls there.

And although it was a short hike for me, I had to cut it even shorter as the hills were just too steep for these arthritic knees. I did make it down to the lower falls and Terry kept hiking up, up, and around so that he could get a better look from across the way.

But the day was once again sunny, crisp, cool , and lovely for a walk through the forest there.

After “WItty” we next drove off to the beautiful town of Metchosin to see the views there and have lunch. We chose the only café we could find called “My Chosen” and it was actually really nice and our food was very good.

But a crazy “small world” thing happened there. After lunch I strolled off to the washroom and when I returned, Terry was sitting there with his coat and ballcap on. I strode back to the table and when Terry looked up at me….IT WASN’T TERRY’S FACE!!!!

It was the weirdest feeling and I was so shocked that I was speechless. The man who was wearing Terry’s clothes is our friend, Mackenzie, originally from Calgary, who just happened to be working as the photographer that he is, in Metchosin . He popped in to get a coffee and when I walked past him to go the the washroom he knew that Terry must be in the restaurant somewhere. Terry instantly concocted the plan to do the switcheroo and it worked brilliantly…I was SO surprised…ha ha ha.

After our yummy lunches (taco salad with garlic toast for Terry and chicken caesar wrap and salad for me) we found a more ‘user friendly’ hiking spot that took us to the water.

We were met by a ‘furry friend’ when we popped out the trees , a very friendly dog and her owner, “Sharon”, with whom we enjoyed a nice chat.

Before we knew it, it was time to head back to Sidney to meet up with our friend, Bev, who just moved there the same day that we flew in!

To be continued…….
