Reunion!
Old friends.
There’s nothing like them really.
They’ve known you forever. They’ve seen your different hair colours and weights.
They know how silly you are and love you anyway.
Old friends know what street you grew up on and probably lived in your neighbourhood at one time.
They might have had sleepovers at your house and they’ve most likely at least come over for lunch there.
They knew with whom you had ‘crushes’ in high school and they might have played ‘tag’ with you in grade school.
They still remember your crazy jokes and you quote theirs.
You share memories of walking to school together or of riding the bus.
You were invited to their weddings and you weep with them for their losses and they for yours.
Old friends remember when you got reprimanded in high school and you remember when they tried drinking to excess that one time….or …all of those times…ha ha.
Now you talk about your hip replacements, their knee replacements, and new puppies and grandchildren too.
Old friends just KNOW you. They’ve seen you at your youngest moments of learning and they’ve walked with you through to this age.
And though you live apart now your reunion is all the more sweeter for it.
I had the joy of finally meeting up with my gals at the Harbour House restaurant in Windsor, Ontario the other evening.
They looked great! They ARE great!
It’s a blessing to have an old friend. And that night I met up with 8 of them…..
Until we meet again……
