Day Trips (part two)

A couple of weeks ago we enjoyed our Pigeon Lake trip so when last week presented us with  another lovely day we decided to head southeast this time for some sunshine and our Grisham audiobook.

I have always loved driving out to Camrose, Alberta.  I love the views at all times of the year and that day the melting ice reflected the cerulean blue of the sky.  SO pretty.

We had no other destination in mind so once we got there we Googled coffee shops and we found a lovely place that we will definitely return to !

In the ‘Before Times’ we used to seek out places with character like this and when we pulled up to the old house turned Coffee Shop we already had a good feeling about it.

Fika provides very good coffee (Terry purchased a bag of their in house beans!) , a few nice choices of sweets or sandwiches, should you desire, and ambience aplenty.

The walls were covered with original artwork for sale. My kind of place!

We treated ourselves to a hot drink and a lemon, poppyseed muffin and both were so good.

On the way home , I interrupted our book to take a few photos and I loved the spooky old house I found along the highway. Look at all those straps hanging out of that window!

All in all , getting out for these drives is good for my soul.

And on this day I celebrate my son, Darren’s, birthday. Happy birthday, Darren!

Enjoy a coffee and a lemon poppyseed muffin!
