Bitters Concert!

What a weekend of music!

Especially for our daughter, Emily, who performed with her band Bad Buddy on Friday night….and then at our Front Porch Concert with her band,”Bitters” on Sunday evening. Wow!

I was nervous about having to cancel because our shows are always classified as ‘weather permitting’ and the forecast looked to be predicting severe thunderstorm warnings. So….I ‘stormed Heaven’ with requests for the rain to hold off or be ‘light’ and boy(!) were my prayers ever answered! The first half of the concert was sunny skies and when the rain did come in, it was light and very short lived. The crowd laughed a lot when Terry came out with tons of umbrellas for those who didn’t bring their own. It looked like we collect them because he had an arm load! Some were golfing umbrellas and others we just accumulated over time I guess…ha ha.

SpiritLine was the opening act for Bitters. I brought forth my surprise guest, Paula Drew, to sing harmonies with me for my songs,”Something Perfect” and one of my soon to be recorded songs,”I Miss You”. I was a little distracted by a wasp that tried to fly into my mouth…ha ha…they are horrible this year (and we just had a pest control company spray for them too!)

Then Terry sang his song,”First Love” while I accompanied him on djembé and with harmonies and he finished the set with “Grandma’s In The Kitchen” which got lots of laughs. (Grandma and Grandpa need to get some clothes on if they’re going to cook bacon in the morning!)

Next up was the Bitters band consisting of Emily Bachynski on lead vocals and guitar, Elliot Thomas on bass, and Geoffrey O’Brien on drums. The crowd loved them and we were all so impressed once again by Emily’s writing, vocals, playing, and the talent and cohesiveness of this tight band. And of course they got an encore!

Our neighbours were so generous in allowing us to have all of these folks taking up our roadway and we got lots of compliments from them as well!

I enjoyed looking at all these young families, lots even brought babies, and the rain literally couldn’t dampen the great mood of this crowd.
