Cherry Lane
We decided to take advantage of the “picture perfect” day and take a 1 1/2 hour road trip southeast to “Cherry Lane Café” for dinner.
We realised that we had actually been here years ago in the winter when it was owned by different folks and called The Rosebush Café.
The ride out was indeed beautiful and we took the opportunity to continue our audiobook called “Dear Edward”. Soon we arrived and were surprised to see an entire new building beside the former house/restaurant which is the new café.
There were lots of thoughtful decor touches outside from the interesting “Door gate” to the antiques everywhere. Inside….each table was handmade with nice wood patterns. I liked the shelf made out of parts of a piano too.
Soon we were seated and very ready for supper as we both ate lightly during the day so we could indulge in what we wanted for that meal. I started off with a cherry lemonade. Yup. It was as good as it looks.
I enjoyed my tortellini dinner with THE best garlic toast and Terry enjoyed his beef brisket dinner as well. There are 5 things to choose from on the dinner menu and if you drive out for lunch you will find yummy homemade soups and sandwiches.
Terry liked the coffee so much (Their signature brand!) that he ordered 2 bags of beans to take home.
There were a surprising (to me) amount of patrons at this out of the way place in wee Edburg (Edberg is a village approximately 31 km south of Camrose. Johan Edstrom, an early postmaster, named the village after himself.)
The patio outside was rockin’ with folks the whole time we were there too.
The new owners, Melissa and Adam (server and cook too) did a wonderful job of keeping everyone happy and even took a moment to introduce themselves. Really nice folks!
Our server, Sarah, was also delightful and did a super job.
After a very light and fresh chocolate cake for dessert it was time to head home and as we drove into the sunset I felt happy that we took the time to visit Cherry Lane.
