Listen To The Music
Last week when I had the pleasure of going over to my sister’s home for dinner, her husband my my husband gently chastised me for not writing new music.
But you see, when I have a new album in the works I spend all of my musical energies just trying to memorize the songs I have and I usually don’t like to keep writing , unlike most singer/songwriters.
They both pushed me to drop that frame of mind and to use my gifts continually.
So, I decided they were indeed correct and I would attempt to write my first new song in 2022.
I always pray before I create so that the ultimate Creator will guide my work. And lo and behold , by the end of the afternoon I had a song that I was happy with and ‘surprise, surprise’ it was inspired by the pandemic.
But that said , Terry described the tune as very singable and although I always record my work , I also remembered the tune the next day.
So I’m very excited that I am writing again and we’ll see where that takes me this year.
I also entered a contest to send in a song about relationships for Valentine’s Day and once again the “Women of Substance” radio podcast chose one of my songs for its show.
They will be playing my song , “Beautiful Contrast” , on February 4th, 2022, and also once again I am in good company with other female artists that day and in the weeks leading up to February 14th.
It’s time to listen to the music in my heart.
And I look forward to some day sharing these new songs with you too!
P.S. speaking of music : out of the blue Fr. Don Flumerfelt ( whom we only met twice when he subbed in for our priest) remembered us and called to see if he could give us all of his music books/ sheet music as he is moving into a seniors’ home. What a gift! We had such a nice visit with him too.
