Harrison Hot Springs

One day, we chose to go to a place we’d never been to before : Harrison Hot Springs.

We packed up our bathing suits, thermos’, and set out east on the TransCanada, while so looking forward to that great feeling of being in those healing, hot mineral waters.

Terry downloaded a new audio book for us called “Dear Edward” and it’s already good! It’s about a 12 year old boy, the only survivor of a place crash.

The trip took us about 2 hours but it was a lovely, sunny day with dry roads and gorgeous scenery. We ate lunch at the Old Settler’s Pub in Harrison Hot Springs town and it was quite good and the restaurant itself had tons of carved statues around every corner…very fun to look at!

The scenery at the Springs was just so beautiful and I was so excited to get in the hot springs themselves …of which there were 3 areas to choose from : The main one in the hotel there. The outdoor one down the road. And an area that we were told had a few little springs at the source.

Imagine our surprise when we discovered that the public pool didn’t open until 5 pm ( We planned on being home by then!), the main pool was only accessible to hotel guests (!), and the 3 little pools ….well…..see for yourselves :

There were people crowded into basically a shallow pit amongst the rocks and I have NO idea how they even made it down off that rocky cliff….ha ha ha.

There’s NO way we were going down there! So we drove 2 hours for …..things OTHER than the springs…ha ha.

As I mentioned, it was beautiful there so we didn’t regret the drive.

Did you notice the bear and howling wolf statues on the roof? And the forested area all around the lake was worth seeing for sure too!

We did a bit of antiquing, lots of walking, and really enjoyed our sunny day together.

Lesson learned? If you want to enjoy the nice hot springs in Harrison ? Book a hotel room!
