Egg-citing Art

Terry came with me this day so he could work some more on his ever evolving painting (and help me unlock the giant, new gate around the Marian Centre.)

As always it was such a lovely, peaceful feeling to put on soft music and get into our own head spaces for creativity.

I found a book that had a page of pysanky images I liked so I decided to choose one of them and figure out the pattern and steps myself. I’ve been doing Ukrainian eggs for years so I have a pretty good idea of how to do this.

Can you find the egg I chose? ( This time I chose a duck egg instead of a goose egg.)

Catherine Doherty, foundress of Madonna House, is Russian and understandably there are a few influences around like the ‘nesting dolls’ you see above.

I must say that while was creating I was praying for the good people of the Ukraine. Please God, stop the war.

Also above you can see my latest egg in the orange dye and Terry’s very large painting so far. So beautiful already.

Finally, you will see my finished egg for the day.

Not egg-axtly perfect but perfectly enjoyable to create.
