Reflections on Heading home
We woke up to cloudless, cerulean skies yesterday, packed up the cabin and had to be out the door by 10 am.
After a quick stop at “Timmies” for coffees and bagels we hit the road and got as far as we could without stopping for photos every five seconds. We saw SO many animals on the way home. There were elk on the sides of the road in several places, deer, and even a fox ran across our path. But the most exciting thing for me was when a female moose ran across the road in front of us. Terry snapped a picture of her hind end…but I have hoped to see a moose for years so I’m really happy.
The clear skies made for incredibly mirror-like reflections . We could have actually stopped at every mile or so but then we wouldn’t have made it home until midnight…ha ha.
Trains were all over the place and they looked so iconic against the mountain backdrops.
Terry and I brought our paints but the views were so beautiful and the weather so nice that we didn’t want to sit in the cabin painting when we only had two days to explore. We probably won’t get back to Jasper until next year but when we do we always have a wonderful time. Feeling SO blessed to have this amazing way to celebrate my birthday …despite this horrible pandemic.
But, although we had a brief but beautiful time away, home is best. The snow is melted, the trees are still in bloom with their lovely flowers, and it’s time to think about our gardens next.
Peace friends,
Love,Laura
