Am I Too Old To Be A Mermaid?

Am I too old to be a mermaid, with my saggy boobs and wrinkly tum?
Am I too old to be a mermaid ,at least the tail hides my aging bum?

My hair is grey and thinning, I have lost my flowing mermaid locks
Shall I leave it to the younger ones....to sit posing on the rocks?

But the ocean sets me free you see, it’s where I feel the most alive
When I glide beneath the waves , through the glistening surf I dive.

So I 'm NOT too old to be a mermaid, I shall keep swimming till I die
You should do what makes your heart sing , let’s be mermaids you and I !

I’m finding it increasingly difficult to move these days. My body is missing my three days a week pool stretches and cardio that I formerly participated in for over 30 years.

I can’t wait till we all get vaccinated (most of us?) and the world can open up to us again.

I can’t wait for my pool and all the hugs and flights and company IN my home and restaurant meals and singing at mass.

I can’t wait to have tea with my parents IN their home and to see a movie IN a theatre and for SO many other things we used to do.

But I have learned to be patient. I know what other things make my heart sing and I will be a ‘mermaid’ this way.

Today I will paint. I will sing. I will love. I WILL wait. But I’ll create while I wait. I will be a mermaid and love who I am….where I am.

Peace, friends.
