Sudeley Castle

It’s fun to share with you the many types of flora and fauna we saw at the Castle. From the Aeonium Garnet flowers to the “Tree Queen” there was so much to enjoy. (I can’t believe that butterfly posed for my camera!) Next up a tour of the inside of the castle….

I did my best to climb the copious amount of stairs in all of these places that we visited and the cobblestones were difficult too. But I’m so glad I chose to make the treks because I learned so much and enjoyed every adventure.

Queen Catherine Par was one of the wives of King Henry the 8th. There was a large portrait of her at the entrance and unusually, she was supposed to have been over 6 feet tall. I also enjoyed seeing the ‘bathroom/toilet room’ but I would NOT have enjoyed having the ‘honour’ of being “Groom of the Stool”…ha ha ha.

Most of these Castles had their own chapels or churches and this one was no exception. I believe our tour guide said this is the only private home to have an actual queen buried there. She clarified that Sudeley was actually designated as a home because castles mean that they have seen battle.

It was such a great visit and we ended off our day with going into town for some lunch and of course we had to have “sticky toffee pudding” for dessert!

It is November 11th as I write this so I added a poppy ….lest we forget.

TO BE CONTINUED…..
