My Friend Pat Laing.
Art class. Drama class. Pat and I had buckets of fun in these classes at the U. Of W..
We giggled while having to draw life drawings (read: naked… not us, the models… ha ha), and giggled even more in our acting classes.
Patricia was dating Dewar and I ended up as their “maid of honour“ at their wedding years later.
Pat ended up being my choreographer for the Canadian World Premiere of “Chicago” ( I played “Roxie Hart”) and she also ended up teaching at the University of Windsor. Lots of stories there.
Pat and Dewar ended up moving to Harrow, Ontario, to a beautiful old home with an apple orchard. Over the years they became enmeshed in the community. They had their beautiful children and in the meantime they ran the orchard and produced award winning pies and jams for the country fair.
They had schools bus in classes to see their petting zoo, they sponsored a huge local rodeo, Dewar writes articles for the paper as well as running the farm with Pat (and their daughter) and keeping up with his law practice!
They built a massive equestrian center on their property, taught riding, and board horses too.
One of their latest ventures is selling gorgeous flowers!

These days Pat and Dewar have set up a beautiful art studio in their home.
Pat has been experimenting with pastels. Here are some of her recent creations….
The first image is of me in Hawaii!
When I return home in May I hope to create art together in their studio. But not with pastels! Way too hard.
