Sunday In Canmore

Although the temperature dropped to -13 this morning, the skies were showing some blue and it was just gorgeous on our way to mass.

We chose the newly built Church of the Shrine of Our Lady of The Rockies and it too was so beautiful.

Mass was lovely and we both really loved the design of the church and attention to artistic detail. Next up it was off to find a place for breakfast!

It was an absolute ‘winter wonderland’ outside and I loved taking photos of the beauty around us.

We really lucked out when we just happened upon a restaurant called “Where the Buffalo Roam”. Inside looked very ‘vintage’ and indeed our food was served on antique plates and my tea in an antique tea pot and cup and saucer. Our breakfasts were delicious too.

We left the town and arrived back at the Malcolm Hotel just in time for our daughter, Lana’s ( and Jeff’s!) “Zoom Shower” which we only just found out about.

It was great! We got to meet Jeff’s parents and other relatives, some of whom cannot make the wedding itself and thus the Zoom meet.

“Gary and Jane” also set up an idea for all the guests to mail Christmas ornaments to the happy couple that they could open in front of us all and then put them on their first little apartment tree that Gary and Jane purchased for them.

It was so much fun and I wish we had known about this sooner. Ah well, we’ll make sure we bring an ornament to the wedding.

Above are a couple of examples of the ornaments I thought were fun….

A covid one, a sloth ( from Jeff’s friend), A “Dungeons and Dragons” die, and a unicorn riding a dinosaur.

They also received beautiful new and traditional ornaments. What a nice idea!

(Another cool thing was after playing our Tile Rummy Game that afternoon I had a chance to sneak in yet another Zoom visit with my 3 besties!)
