THE TOWN (ROSEBUD PART FOUR)
THE DAY I TOOK THESE PHOTOS THE SMOKE FROM THE CALIFORNIA FIRES HAD TURNED THE SKY WHITE. YOU COULD SMELL IT IN THE AIR TOO.
AS YOU CAN TELL…WE LOVE THIS TOWN. THERE ARE ABOUT 10 (?) B&B’S HERE AND WE HAVE STAYED AT MANY OF THEM. THE WHOLE TOWN IS SURROUNDED BY ROLLING HILLS FOR MILES IN EVERY DIRECTION. WHEN YOU DRIVE OVER THAT LAST HILL AND ENTER THE TOWN YOU WILL SEE ‘THE MERCANTILE’. WE HAVE BEEN IN THIS BUILDING MANY TIMES TO PICK UP OUR THEATRE TICKETS, ENJOY THE SHOP, AND TO HAVE DINNER . IT IS FULLY RENOVATED NOW AND UNFORTUNATELY, PRETTY EMPTY WITH COVID DOING A NUMBER ON IT.
I’M NOT EVEN SURE IF THE LITTLE SHOPS ARE OPEN RIGHT NOW BUT YOU CAN FIND THE MOST UNIQUE GIFTS , MOSTLY CANADIAN MADE, IN THE SEVERAL BOUTIQUES DOWN MAIN STREET.
THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO ART GALLERIES THAT I AM AWARE OF AND WE HAVE HAD TWO SHOWS IN THE AKOKINISKWAY OURSELVES. THIS PAST WEEKEND WE PURCHASED A SMALL ORIGINAL FROM VAL SPEER. LOVE HER WORK.
THERE ARE A FEW THEATRES TOO , THE LARGEST BEING THE ‘OPERA HOUSE’ WITH COMFORTABLE SEATING ….NOW SOCIAL DISTANCE INCORPORATED INTO THE MAIN SPACE. I HOPE THEY CAN BRING IN THE PATRONS FOR THE ONE MAN CHRISTMAS SHOW.
I NOTICED THEY HAVE A NEW PUB ALONG WITH A COUPLE OF OTHER NICE RESTAURANTS. THEY HAVE A LARGE CHURCH UP THE HILL, MUSEUM, AND OUTDOOR STAGE AREA.
BUT IT’S THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE THIS TOWN SO INCREDIBLE. I HOPE YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO VISIT AND STAY OVERNIGHT SOMEDAY. YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED.
