The Footloose Caboose

Terry and I decided to head out to the “Footloose Caboose” restaurant before I left for my Ontario visit.

We had the pleasure of driving out there last year….about the same time of year….before they closed in early October.

We knew we were also running out of time to capture some of those Fall colours and the day was perfect weather wise. The specialty restaurant (which is housed in a train car) is about an hour away from our home so we left early so that if we wanted to stop for photos we would have time.

We pulled over to “South Cooking Lake” and although it was difficult to see the lake itself (See first photo) there was a very pretty park there with picnic tables and paths strewn with cattails.

Why did the donkey cross the road? We may never know but at one point a donkey just walked across the road in front of our car…ha ha ha.

We arrived just early enough to check out the property and were surprised to find an extensive collection of insulators formerly found on light posts. The way they displayed them certainly became an art installation!

Our reservation was for 6 pm and we were right on time. The interior of the train/restaurant is very nice with only a few steps to get up and in.

I was so hungry that after our yummy ‘cauliflower bites’ I forgot to take photos of the rest of our meal. Terry had a chicken dish and I had Weiner Schnitzel. De-licious!

Would it be naughty of me to reveal that on the way home we stopped at Earl’s for their famous pumpkin pie? Yes?

You didn’t hear it from me……
