“So Many Doors”

“ You sleep by the doorway curled all up just like a cat.

This door will not open, there’s no welcome mat.

We walk by your clothing, still not seeing you there.

Not welcome today, not welcome anywhere.

CHORUS:

Were doors ever open?

Were homes ever safe?

The poor never leave us

But we can walk away.

What led them to closed doorways once more?

How can we help them?

There’s so many doors.

Most doors do not open ….not for you anyway.

Some doors crack wide open but you’re too scared to stay.

Your eyes are unseeing, your head nears to the ground.

Our own eyes refuse to see, we don’t turn around.

CHORUS:

Were doors ever open?

Were home ever safe?

The poor never leave us but we walk away.

What led them to closed doorways once more?

How can we help them?

There’s so many doors.

How can we learn from this?

There’s so many doors.
