Two More World’s Biggest !
One can see some weird things when travelling around rural Alberta.
Terry and I went for a drive towards two more “World’s Biggest” things …always a good excuse to get out of the house and enjoy the day.
I had to pull over to have Terry stand near a 10 foot carving of a Ninja Turtle that someone had at their front gate. WTHeck?
And it’s not every day that one sees an antique car ….with a face.
We are still enjoying “The Rose Code” audiobook so that kept us company after our rosary time.
It took us about two hours to drive to Glendon, Alberta, to see the World’s Biggest Pyrogy and no offence to Glendon but not much else going on in this very small town.
Funnily enough, while we were having our picnic lunch two more sets of tourists dropped by to take photos of the Pyrogy. So these things really do bring people to the town. What was usually open (which wasn’t much) was closed because of Labour Day . The town does have an arena, drop in centre, and nice school . It also has two liquor stores and two bars.
I did really like the old bullet ridden truck near the small children’s playground though. We took a few photos above.
Apparently Glendon calls itself the “Pyrogy Capital”. I would love to have found some homemade ones as we love that meal.
Although I personally would not like to live in a place this small , I love the character of these small towns.
I hope that the World’s Biggest Pyrogy will keep bringing folks to their town and that when things open up again, folks will spend some time and money here to keep the place going.
To be continued…..
