A Smaller Gathering

Our daughter “L” flew in from Seattle with her husband in time for Christmas. On Christmas Eve we met up at our favourite Chinese food place called Ling Nan for a delicious dinner as usual.

I had made my pies the day before so the pressure was off and then…off we went to lead the music at Midnight Mass. It was beautiful and Fr. Dean did a great job.

After popping the Christmas Crackers and eating the wonderful brunch that Terry prepared for us on Christmas morning, we all settled into our positions in the living room to open stockings. L just made us laugh so hard when she used her tights for J’s stocking.

Besides not having half of our children (and all of our grandsons) home for Christmas this year we didn’t host the dinner for the first time. We were kindly invited to our friends “J” and “S”’s new home for a terrific meal and lots of fun things to open. (I thought Terry’s piano cover looked like giant underwear….ha ha.)

One of the highlights for me this year was all the laughter we shared. I LOVED watching my girls open their “Treasure Boxes” in which I saved memorabilia since they were one years old. I loved the hugs I received from my 2 godchildren. It was such an honour for our daughter “E” to give her husband one of my paintings for Christmas too.

The low light was missing our Vancouver families. Thanks be to God we are taking a few days to go visit them soon.

I hope you had some lovely moments during your Christmas celebrations this year.

Peace, friends.

May we all have a truly happy New Year.
