Christmas Crafts

Knowing that we would eventually have some time alone with our grandsons we had 2 crafts planned.

The first one was sent to us by my sister, Pamela, I think. It involved finding some plastic cups (less than 16 ounces) and some permanent markers.

We preheated the oven to broil and prepared a tray with tinfoil.

Terry and I practiced before the children arrived and had a bit of a fail but we learned from this. I would have preferred white plastic cups but we looked everywhere and couldn’t locate them.

Take a look…..

So we learned that we needed to move the rack up higher and take them out earlier. The second time worked very well. We left them in for less than 30 seconds.

We were ready! At the end of it Papa helped the boys drill a hole in the cooled down plastic and then we added ribbons for hanging! (Oddly, one of our clear cups didn’t melt all the way AND turned white!)

We also did a quilted ornament craft. We purchased styrofoam balls and various swatches of Christmas themed material. With all the materials at the ready we then used tiny screwdrivers to push the material into the ball in any pattern we chose and they turned out quite nice. ( No sewing or gluing necessary) An opened paper clip was pushed through at the end upon which we tied pretty ribbons so they could be hung on a tree.

Fun crafts all.
