More Sax and Trumpet Time!

How do you write music when you don’t read music?

Well, I surround myself with better players who DO. Ha ha.

One day we had a rehearsal at Albert’s house where our friend, Dominique came over to work out some trumpet parts for my album.

Albert almost plays all instruments as he was a band teacher for years and Dominique has been on a couple of my albums and he is great too.

Dominique, Albert, and I worked out the trumpet parts that I hear. I can sing them, Albert can play them on the piano, and Dominique would then hand chart them. Wow! How blessed am I? We had a very productive evening and a few rehearsal days before Dominique invited his friend, Will over to record at my home.

James Seabrook of TwoBodiesofWater Studios is incredibly talented as a sound engineer and very kind to actually bring his recording equipment to my house so I don’t have to do the stairs at his new studio! He also told me that the sound is really excellent in my house. Woo Hoo! He brought along his trainee, Trin, and they set up all the equipment for the evening.

I hired a couple of perfectionists so we only got 2 songs recorded that night but I can’t complain. It sounds amazing !

Albert, Dom, James, Laura, Will.

Another session to add another song for the horns. Only one more to go!
