Mining For Good Memories
On our second day in town we had the pleasure of more family meet ups after a nice breakfast at the Zen Café.
Groceries then off to be with J’s family again before the evening spent with ‘D’s’ family. Fun day doing chalk art with the ‘cool’ parents looking on …….and then….
loved the “welcome gifts” we received from our cool grandsons! And the sun was a shinin’!
It was wonderful to be near everybody again. Even though “Papa” in his ‘invisibility mask’ was not as ‘cool’ . HA HA HA.
Monday we went off with ‘O’ and ‘M’ to the Mining Museum….which we’d never been to before!
The Mining Museum is in Squamish, B.C. and all four of us enjoyed it so much. We started off our journey by taking the boys out to lunch at our new favourite breakfast place called “Zen Café”. Our grandsons were ‘as good as gold’ and speaking of minerals, soon it was time to take our hour long journey to the museum.
Lots of car games from 20 Questions to “Would You Rather” and lots of giggles too.
I can highly recommend this tour. You just book a spot online and arrive at least a half an hour early for it. They have an interesting interactive building with information about what is made out of the metals and minerals mined there and how things are mined.
Then, when it was time to go into the mine shaft itself I found out I had to climb 45 stairs to get there! I won’t say it wasn’t painful or difficult but I will say that I almost cried because our boys were at the top cheering me on with, “You are doing great, Nonny! You’re almost there! Only 9 more steps! You can do it!” What complete sweethearts!
The ride deep into the shaft was fun and the talk about how to mine was interesting if a little long once the questions started…ha ha. Oh, it was also fun to watch the guys pan for precious gold and minerals.
We had SO much fun with our “Copper Kings” (the main source of the mining in Britannia is copper) and the “Boom Show” at the end of the tour might have been the best part!
