Christ Church Concert

Who knew?

Well, apparently, MANY people knew that every Wednesday in the summer months there were free concerts just down the road from our house at Christ Church!!!

Our friend, Tim Chesterton, invited friends to attend his hour long concert there and we decided to take him up on it.

The evening sun turned the tops of the trees golden and the lovely church backdrop was so beautiful.

Tim sings traditional folks tunes that he has either written or found from the 1700s etc. He is a very talented classical style guitarist and seems to have a huge amount of material to choose from for his set.

He told us that some of the old songs could have over 100 verses but not to worry, he wouldn’t be putting us through that! HA HA.

“Froggy Went A Courtin’ “ was a sample of a more recognizable tune but he said most traditional folks songs do not end well for the people involved. Someone drowns or breaks up or some other sad thing.

Sometimes the audience was encouraged to join in on the chorus and Tim had many interesting anecdotes for us about each song too.

Right before the concert started, Sue, the minister at Christ Church came before the microphone to tell us that because it was the last concert that every person there would receive an icecream ‘drumstick’ to enjoy while we listened. BONUS!

And speaking of bonuses , at the end of the concert we met a bunch of folks who would like to come to OUR Front Porch Concert next summer AND we will be booked to sing at Christ Church for one of the Wednesday shows next summer. Amazing! I even got to chat with one of the ladies, Betty, who went to our concert and she swims at my new pool.

I can’t believe we were unaware of this wonderful event but we won’t forget about it now that we know!

Peace friends. May we continue to gather safely.
