Friends and a Fun Friday
Where is this place?
It’s called “Artspace” and it is where my friend, Jason, lives. He has been a quadriplegic since birth but has the best sense of humour ever. His ‘space’ is wall to wall images and objects pertaining to all he loves. He needs a full time caregiver (Chris at the moment) and Jason had a very tough 2024 fighting off all kinds of infections. But, still he laughs and welcomes me into his home.
He loves Elvis, “The Boss”, and The Edmonton Elks among other folks.
It is so interesting how we communicate with each other since he cannot speak. Jason has a board on his wheelchair that has letters and common expressions on it that he is able to press on with one knuckle. His caregiver and I try and guess the word so that he doesn’t have to work so hard. This day we were celebrating his belated birthday. I gave him one of our daughter’s Bad Buddy albums and one by Braden Gates who performed for us last summer at our Front Porch Concert series.
Jason gifted me with a coffee crisp! I also had the chance to catch up with my friend, Cathy recently. I met her years ago in Young LIfe (a Christian group that reaches out to teens) and we always have a great visit …..and if it weren’t for Lent I might have had a scone at the tea house!
Speaking of Lent, Terry and I met up after my visit with Jason to go to the Basilica to attend Adoration and Mass. We had the bonus of praying the Stations of the Cross. Another bonus was that my sister, Paula, was the beautiful leader of song!
After the service we all went out to MKT for a fish and chips/ Beyond burger dinner.
It was a great Friday.
I loved the devout woman in the second photo.
