New Landscaping

I think it has already been seven years since we renovated our home.

This included the landscaping and we’ve been very happy with most of the work done around our property. We had a few bricks come loose in our sidewalk stairs (Terry reglued these), some plants die, and the weeds would eventually show up of course. But overall it’s been lovely to look at.

But when we added our ‘breezeway” to take away most of the stairs in my life a lot of the brickwork in the backyard had to be torn up to make way for it.

We knew that this Spring we would have this repaired and the big “While We’re At It” would be changing some stonework, moving or adding new plants, re-sanding all of the bricks, and adding more stones to the edging at the front of the house (to keep animals from throwing the black wood chips all over our sidewalks.

Oh, and we had to re-do our electrical and irrigation too.

Here is a bit of a photo journey of the process…..

Bricks removed, sand laid, gravel laid down, lilac tree planted, new bricks in place.

We had the tree moved to the correct, central position, new hostas added, new stones around the front, and positioned our fountain out back.

Our gazebo/tent is gone but we have a nice area for our firepit, another nice area for our table on the other side of the breezeway, and the front yard is green and very pretty too.

Glad we could do this.

Hope it lasts another seven years!

P.S. In answer to Bev’s question…..see below for pics of the finished breezeway which connects the house to the garage and the little dividing wall in the south back yard section.
