AGING LIKE SEAGLASS

I WANTED TO SHARE THIS WITH YOU TODAY.

I HAVE A BRACELET MADE OF SEA GLASS THAT I FOUND IN HAWAII ONCE UPON A TIME…IN THE DAYS WHEN ONE COULD FLY AWAY TO AN ADVENTURE. (WAS THIS REALLY ONLY SIX MONTHS AGO?)

I THINK IT’S BEAUTIFUL. THE SEA TOOK THE MANY DIFFERENT BOTTLES AND BROKEN BITS OF GLASS THAT PEOPLE DISCARDED AND TURNED THEM INTO SOMETHING LOVELY….LIKE JEWELS. AND I WEAR MY BRACELET PROUDLY.

ONE THING I’M STILL LEARNING TO DO IS TO WEAR MY AGE PROUDLY . I AM PROUD OF EVERY SINGLE LINE AND SCAR ON MY BODY BECAUSE THEY MEAN THAT I HAVE LIVED AND THAT I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH MANY YEARS ON THIS PLANET. (MY HUSBAND CALLS MY SCARS FROM MY MANY OPERATIONS MY MEDALS OF HONOUR.)

BUT WHEN I SEE MYSELF IN CERTAIN PHOTOS OR VIDEOS I GET DISTRESSED WITH BAD ANGLES OR LIGHTING AND I FIND IT HARD TO APPRECIATE MY ‘WELL EARNED PATINA’.

AND WHEN MY PAIN LEVEL IS PARTICULARLY HIGH LIKE IT IS NOW I WANT TO REMEMBER THAT LIKE THE SEA MY BROKEN BITS CAN BE SMOOTHED BY LAUGHTER AND LOVE AND GOOD LIVING. I NEED TO BE CARRIED ALONG ON THIS WAVE AND REMEMBER THAT AS I AGE I AM TURNING INTO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL …LIKE SEA GLASS.
