A Happy Thanksgiving
I headed over to my parents’ house from the hotel early so that we could ‘do’ Sunday mass online together to start off our Thanksgiving.
It was a lovely service with Fr. Rob Galea from Australia. He is so personable and his conversion story is fascinating. You can look it up on YouTube.
Then ‘Marmie’ made us blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon. Yum!
I keep a guitar in Windsor for years now. My brother, John, and I drove to Michigan years ago to purchase it and it has a lovely sound and resides at John’s house most of the year. That way I don’t have to drag my “Martin” with me every year as I would be nervous that the airline wouldn’t take care of it. (Have you seen the videos online of this kind of thing? Yikes!)
Anyway, I enjoyed practising my new songs on the porch and mum got to hear them while she read near me out in the warm breeze of the day.
Soon enough it was time to head over to my sister’s and have Thanksgiving dinner with Pam and Dave and their daughter, Alaina. Their huge dog ,Ben was a good, patient boy too. He truly is a ‘gentle Ben"‘. Pam treated us to the entire home-cooked meal which consisted of pureed broccoli-cheddar soup, pork tenderloin with plum or apple sauce, asparagus, fresh, wee croissants, and mashed potatoes. She baked delicious brownies for dessert. We had a good laugh when Dad said that “something happened and he had ‘run out of ice-cream’.”
Then, after dinner, we drove out to a nearby neighbourhood home to see a crazy Hallowe’en display before we returned to play “Wizard”. (Mum and Dad had returned to their home by this point.)
I think that I will do a blog about the wild Hallowe’en house we visited. Wow!
David shared his 60th birthday munchies with us as we played the card game. We are all very competitive with this game but David was the BIG winner with a very high score. Of course he asked me to text my husband the photo of his score because when the four of us play and Terry is with us the two of them are uber competitive..ha ha.
Should I mention that I came in second? Nah. Why rub it in? ha ha ha.
Thanks, Pamela, for cooking an absolutely fabulous meal for our Thanksgiving celebration. SO happy we could be together with your family. Glad Terry got to have his own fantastic home-cooked meal at our sister, Paula’s in Edmonton. Family time. We are drinking in our fill .
