After working so diligently on our recent Rosebud Art Gallery show it is time to get rehearsing my new songs in anticipation of my first house concert. What a blessing to have more than two creative outlets ! I am also going to Elmwood School this week for the book launch of ” The Day That Jake Swallowed The Queen ” , a ‘Tellellie ‘ book I had the privilege of illustrating.
I believe we must ” Keep creating, celebrating, see the beauty in every day ” as the words in my newest song attest. This is one way we can fight the darkness that threatens to drown us sometimes.
So I will keep praying and painting and singing and loving …and laughing too !
Have a GREAT week !
Terry and I are very happy to share the news that we have our very first gallery show in wee Rosebud Alberta ( near Calgary and on the way to Drumheller .)
We drove down to meet the guests on opening night and the paintings looked lovely in the old church space at the Akokiniskway Gallery there( near the Theatre)
Laura near the Gallery Advertising Signage
More or our art at the Country Inn
We are showing our art for 2 months starting Sept. 9th and all proceeds go towards the Rosebud School of the Arts so please take the open road there and open your hearts to this wonderful cause.
I feel really honoured today to have read the following :
Another of our ‘homegrown’ ?amateur? artists, that took All Country Radio to the top! Give her a listen…Thank you Laura Bachynski!!!!
The other day I had the privilege of teaching a painting class at St. Boniface in Edmonton. Each child had their own canvas on board and I brought in a vase of fresh flowers for them to try their hand at Still Life painting.
Wow! I’ve forgotten how busy 20 grade one students can be ! The teacher provided each table with one ‘pie plate’ of paint colours ( pretty terrible selection at this school …ha ha) and a yogurt cup of water per student. The first thing that happened is that 6 wee cups of water were promptly spilled on the table. Apparently we didn’t have access to rags for the clean up but we did have teeny tiny sponges !
Each canvas was covered with a plastic coating so we needed to unwrap these and after that some of the students started painting on the wrong side of the board…ha ha ha.
We finally got some semblance of order with the help of the teacher, Ms. Alcock, who has a very good class. I worked on building up the image from the background to the central image. The kids were excited and non-stop.
It was a lot of fun.
SO honoured to be part of this great radio program !
Sold ” Sticks and Stones ” to Leanne
Terry waiting for the first guests.
Very happy that in only 2 1/2 hours Terry and I were able to sell 9 paintings with proceeds going to YoungLife Canada, The Rosebud School of the Arts, and The Marian Center. We are also giving to the Alzheimer’s Society as the choice for Urban Timber who kindly offered their showroom/store for the show.
Leanne also provided wine , cheese and other goodies for our many guests. We purchased our 100 year old, reclaimed wooden floors from Leanne and Darren at Urban Timber. They came to our Open House Thank You evening and noticed that our walls are filled with our own original art . This got the whole thing rolling.
To date we have now sold 11 paintings , have 2 commissions and have been offered a new , 3 month Art Show/Sale in the Rosebud Theatre.
We are thrilled to be able to give to our favourite charities this way.
L149A ” Post Modern Triangles ” , 12 X 12 , acrylic on wood panel , $200
L141 ” Retired ! ” , 16 X 20 , acrylic on canvas, $350

I am super excited to finally have a chance to show off our newest artwork for sale ! Please join us for wine , conversation , and to view our work at Urban Timber ( urbantimber.ca ) on April 23rd evening . ( around 7 pm…TBA)
These are the folks from whom we purchased our gorgeous new reclaimed wooden flooring in our home. So kind of them.
Terry and I are currently visiting family in Vancouver and will only be home a few days before we have this show! In fact , I also am on a plane the next day for another family visit in Ontario!
Can’t wait to see you all…..
Happy Easter !
So much has been happening in my life that I haven’t had much of a chance to write in this wee blog. We’ve had a family member come to live with us after some personal distress in her life.
This after just moving into our newly renovated home. ( So happy we have room for her !)
Now we are away from home for basically 2 months as we reconnect with extended family on both ends of Canada. ( I LOVE our family !!!!)
So I feel blessed on this blessed Easter.
As an added bonus I just found out my new song ” You Are Loved ” just got chosen as part of the Mother’s Day Contest radio rotation on Women of Substance Radio.
Read on :
We love your song submission for the “Celebrating Motherhood” series, You Are Loved, and will add it to the show that will air all month long on the radio station starting May 2 and will also be used on the Podcast. More info to come on that series after April 20.
Happy Easter to you and all whom you love….

I enjoyed a nice visit with birthday boy , Jason Homyshin , today. Son. Friend. Songwriter. Inspiration. One does tend to feel weird about cutting out pieces of the cake with a that kind of image on top…ha ha. All the best for a better 2016, my friend. May you be blessed with knowledgable , kind, strong and trustworthy caregivers from now on. And good health , of course…..
