Perhaps the title should actually read : ” Proud Mom Creates First Music Vid with Movie Director Son ” . I guess you could say I had an early Christmas present because my Darren found time in his crazy busy schedule to help write and direct the ‘mini movie’ for my title track , Hope Is. My sister , Paula ,and I flew out to Vancouver where we rented a car for the journey to West Van and our gorgeous location. Emma Stookey allowed us to film the whole story at her Grandfather’s log cabin which was built circa 1940 and sits atop a bluff overlooking the ocean. Emma and her husband, Mitch, are part of Darren’s Combination Films team and I am so excited to see the finished result. Part of me feels foolish to be just starting a music career at this stage of my life. I’m 55, I walk with a cane, and have had some sort of joint surgery going on since I was 2 years old! ( Arthritis) . But I also feel extremely blessed to be able to share my musical gift this way…..and what fun I have had doing so!!! Paula HAD to be with me for the shoot since I wrote the song because of her battle with the dreaded breast cancer. My beautiful sister , the miracle girl , is celebrating her 3rd wedding anniversary today and she is cancer free. Now THIS is something to sing about :) !
I am SO thankful to my daughter, Lana Bachynski for designing a beautiful album cover for Hope Is and for choosing some music clips to entice you until the C.D. is printed and available for sale.
If you are interested in pre-ordering the C.D. please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will make sure you are added to the list!
I am SO excited to share with you that we are getting closer and closer to completing this wonderful project, Hope Is.
I spent a portion of my morning at 2 Bodies of Water Studios with the incredible James Seabrook and we listened to all 14 newly mastered songs. I am THRILLED! Now off to printing……
After a week in the studio with James at 2 Bodies of Water Studios I brought home a scratch copy of Hope Is to hear it in different stereos in its unmastered form. I am SO happy to share with you that I think this is my best work to date ! James has already done a fantastic job with the first mix and our musicians sound great! I have some surprises in store for you too.
What a wonderful adventure this all is . I just find that music really helps to lift me up no matter what else is going on in my life. ( 3 separate deaths this week of old friends :( And HOPE….we all need it so much, don’t we?
We have just returned from beautiful Victoria where our son, Jared married his wonderful bride, Servane. Not only was the weather perfect but it was just so joyful to be among people you truly love. We were gathered from many parts of the globe : Denmark, Switzerland, England, Montreal, Toronto, Windsor, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Edmonton as examples. So much music too! It seems every second person I spoke with was either a film director or in a band…ha ha.
When I returned this week I entered 2 Bodies of Water Studios again to meet with James to hear the mixing he had been doing on Hope Is. We are SO CLOSE and I am so very happy with it. Looking forward to sharing this new music with you!
No gigs coming up as we prepare for the second wedding of the summer…this time of our oldest son, Jared. Looking forward to finishing the mixing of ‘ Hope Is ‘ when I have a chance with James at 2 Bodies of Water Studios.
Check out the nice thank you note from our Hope Classic day…..file://localhost/Users/lbachynski/Desktop/Laura%20Bachynski%202013.pdf
Man! What a perfect perfect sunny day for our performance and of course for the run/walk for Spina Bifida today. Rundle Park, Edmonton, was filled with participants and we had a glorious day of music, friends ,bar-b-que and fun. I was joined by some of the members of SpiritLine and we chose mostly old ,classics for the folks to sing along with ( and a couple of my originals thrown in too!)
Glad we could help out in this way.
What a great afternoon! Although the clouds were billowing the rain held off and the street was FULL….full of love! We were the last band to play for the afternoon. We put together a band of people that had never all worked together before, had not rehearsed , but had enough talent to go with the flow and have fun! Phew. We called ourselves ” Rene and The Hopefuls ” because Rene Pierno has been volunteering at Hope Mission in this way for years and it was her gig. I was so glad to be a part of it ….especially when you could hear SO many people singing along with us to classic songs like ” Walking on Sunshine or Country Roads ” , etc. We had dancers too! The poor made the middle class feel rich . We all felt the blessings of community and the joy of music.
..to say that our beautiful daughter was married this weekend. So in between mixing my latest C.D. I was able to take the most wonderful break to drive to Canmore, Ab.,for another musical weekend. Emily is now married to Kurt Loewen, lead guitar player of TMO ( The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra ) while Emma is their Sound Engineer. Music abounded at the wedding but my favourite part was the ” Love Song ” section after dinner and before the dance. The couple asked an eclectic group of people to sing love songs : everyone from a 91 year old Grandpa singing What a Wonderful World to the bridesmaids singing and playing the piano. We had fiddles, an accordion , guitars and even a harp. Music is truly the universal language !
