Just “Be”

“STAY HOME”.  THIS IS WHAT THE WORLD HAS ASKED OF US. WE CANNOT ALL DO THIS OF COURSE.  WORK …OUT OF THE HOME OR IN THE HOME CALLS TO US.

WHY IS IT THOUGH THAT EVEN IF WE HAVE THE TIME, HAVE BEEN GIFTED THIS TIME WE STILL FEEL WE MUST BE BUSY EVERY SECOND?  HABIT?  GUILT?  HUMAN NATURE?

I THINK IT IS O.K. SOMETIMES TO JUST ‘BE’.

LET’S LOOK AROUND. I MEAN REALLY LOOK. LOOK UP. LOOK DOWN.  THERE IS BEAUTY ALL AROUND US. AND WE HAVE TIME TO “SEE” NOW.  WE CAN ALL HAVE A PAINTERLY EYE AS WE GO FOR WALKS .  CAN YOU FIND SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL NEAR YOU?  WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU NOTICED A LOVELY SHADOW OR REFLECTION? LOOK CLOSELY AT THE INSIDE OF A SPRING FLOWER BLOOM OR THE INCREDIBLE DETAILS IN A SINGLE LEAF.

YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE TO BE OUTSIDE. I BET IF YOU REALLY LOOK YOU WILL FIND BEAUTY EVEN ON YOUR MESSY DESK, ON YOUR WINDOW LEDGE , OR IN A FORGOTTEN CORNER IN YOUR HOME.   PICK UP THAT OLD FRAMED PHOTO.  DUST IT OFF AND CHECK IT OUT.  THE PICTURE MIGHT BE FADED BUT THERE IS BEAUTY THERE. IT MIGHT BE IN THE IMAGE OF THOSE WE LOVE AND MAYBE EVEN THE FRAME HAS PRETTY DETAILS THAT YOU’VE LONG STOPPED NOTICING.

“We have a tendency to think in terms of doing and not in terms of being. We think that when we are not doing anything, we are wasting our time. But that is not true. Our time is first of all for us to be. To be what? To be alive, to be peaceful, to be joyful, to be loving. And that is what the world needs most.”
Thich Nhat Hanh

LET’S JUST ‘BE’ TODAY.  AND LET’S NOTICE THE BEAUTY ALL AROUND US.
