WALKING AROUND MY NEIGHBOURHOOD I AM STRUCK BY HOW VERY ‘CANADIAN’ THE OUTDOOR FURNITURE APPEARS. IT SEEMS THE CHAIR OF CHOICE IS THE CLASSIC ADIRONDACK . I HAVE SEEN THEM IN SO MANY COLOURS, MATERIALS- PLASTIC, SOME WOODEN, SOME ADULT SIZED AND SOME FOR CHILDREN.
EITHER WAY, THEY ARE WELCOMING AND AS THE WEATHER IS FINALLY STARTING TO GET NICER I AM SURE THEY WILL BE FILLED WITH WARM BODIES SOON. WE ARE HOME.
YESTERDAY, I CELEBRATED AND WAS CELEBRATED WONDERFULLY FOR MY BIRTHDAY. I WONDERED HOW IT WOULD BE WITH NO CAFÉS OR VERY FEW DESTINATION POINTS AVAILABLE TO US. MY HUSBAND CAME THROUGH IN A BIG WAY AND THE 4 COURSE LUNCHEON MEAL HE CREATED WAS JUST AS GOOD (OR BETTER!) THAN ANYTHING I’VE EVER EATEN IN A RESTAURANT . I AM VERY THANKFUL FOR HIS THOUGHTFULNESS AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO SHARE THE AFTERNOON WITH OUR DAUGHTER AND HER PARTNER TOO.
AND SO WE CONTINUE TO STAY HOME . I READ THAT IN OTHER PARTS OF OUR WORLD THE COUNTRIES THAT HAVE ‘REOPENED’ ARE HAVING ANOTHER WAVE OF COVID-19 . IT IS SO DISTRESSING IN SO MANY WAYS. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A POEM I FOUND THE OTHER DAY. CHECK OUT THE DATE IN WHICH IT WAS WRITTEN.
And the people stayed home.
And read books,
and made art,
and played games,
and learned new ways of being,
and were still.
And listened more deeply.
Some met their shadows.
And the people began to think differently.
And the people healed.
And, in the absence of people living in
the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed,
and the people joined together again,
they grieved their losses,
and made new choices,
and dreamed new images,
and created new ways
as they had been healed.
~by Kitty O’Meara’, from the book, Narka, the Nihilist, 1887
IT LOOKS LIKE WE MIGHT TAKE SOLACE FROM THE FACT THAT THIS HAS ALL HAPPENED BEFORE AND PEOPLE FOUND A WAY TO HEAL.
